Sunday was a great day at the church locations. Stone Baptist (where Kevin preached and the Cana youth worshiped) welcomed 7 new people who responded to the flyers handed out in the neighborhood. We were encouraged by this and excited about the response! The pastor was encouraged as well.
Another Network church also saw many new people attend service and 4 salvations! The response to the flyers was incredible and warrants future effort. Stone Fete (the local festival near Stone Baptist Church) was difficult. We made a few new contacts but for the most part struggled against considerable resistance. Cana Students did a great job of persevering boldly. They spoke to uninterested people nonetheless!
My (Kevin’s) summary of the mission is that the Baptist churches in the UK need ongoing engagement. The pastor’s here are strong men of God with a difficult task. The gospel is not unwelcome and churches are viable. I would like us to catch a vision for the UK that sees two new planting teams go to the UK in the next five years. We need to partner with the local work already happening in London to strengthen it. They need evangelism teams and discipleship efforts. They need a strengthened digital presence. The pastors need some perspective and some encouragement – we should bring them to Texas for short term intensives. Our efforts will produce fruit. I see great opportunity to RECLAIM London. From London, we can engage the world.
See you back in Texas!
